Spokane, WA – Little known Spokane rock band, Menocide, promises to break new musical ground immediately as members prepare to embark on writing and composing an original song about a girl.
After the band’s foray into songs featuring hot dogs, underwear elastic, and bumblebees, songwriter and lead vocalist Lance Goodright said a journey into an untapped market such as songs about a girl could have a major impact on the past and history of every genre of music.
“We’re making our mark, breaking new ground here,” Goodright said. “We honestly couldn’t come up with one song we’ve ever heard about a girl, so we figured it’s a niche market we should be able to easily dominate with a gritty ballad. Girls are out there whether we like or not, and they’re doing stuff . . . I guess.”
Menocide has been performing for friends and family members for nearly 15 years in Goodright’s mother’s basement, and is confident the group is just hitting their creative stride. No particular girl has been named as the potential girl Goodright might use as his muse, but if any girl had actually heard of Menocide, they would surely be abuzz.
“The world needs Menocide, they just don’t know it yet,” Goodright said. “None of us have ever actually met a girl, so we should have a really unique perceptive on the subject. People are going to be blown away . . . which is a pretty good start lyrically right there. Blown Away would be an awesome name for a song about a girl.”
Members of Menocide said they are hopeful that once the perfect lyrics are sketched out for their inspired new approach, they’ll have enough income tax return money to get their instruments out of pawn and seamlessly put verse to lyrics, particularly after bass player Jimmy Youngblood learns to play the bass.
“We’re not quite sure what kind of worm can we’re opening here, but be prepared to see Menocide globally, maybe even universally,” Goodright continued. “The Martians from the moon are going to need to know all about girls here on earth, and with no songs about girls, they’ll regard us as gods. Girl gods.”
With the creative juices flowing and anticipation of opening up an entirely new saga in music history, Goodright started out tight lipped concerning his new found inspiration, but has recently come clean about what prompted the bands new focus.
“I’ve got one word for you,” Goodright said. “Boobies.”
